You can get a Stowe card from buying 20-30 $ worth of stuff on the Church St. Marketplace in October. Using the Stowe card cuts the price of a tix down to about what it is at other ski areas. After about six tix, you get a free one. I always get one. Sometimes if you talk up the staff at the market place, they give you a free one (if ya act cute and hardcore...)
my 2 cents...

Oh, pipe down, Teleliberalspankeelover [BIG ;-)]
I don't take too much issue with what Jeff states. Sometime the market is
unethical, for sure, but in a case like this it makes sense for Stowe to
charge a ton for their passes. They make a ton more from Brits and
doctor's families from MA and NJ than they ever would on hordes of VT
barkeaters. No sense in Vermonters clogging up the line to the quad on
President's weekend when a full price paying customer is waiting to get up
to the Octagon and buy a full lunch for a family of five.
A Smuggs Full Season Pass is ~$400 and you get very high quality terrain.
The MRG terrain/price ratio is similar. Part of the price you pay at both
places is long lines on the popular weekends at MI or the Single. I really
don't know what $twoe lift lines are like on the weekends but I can't
afford to ski there!
Just my $57, which at Stowe will get you a day of skiing, maybe.
