Wonderful view of a ruffed grouse feeding on tree buds. He allowed me to view him for a full minute before hitting the ground. Was hoping to spot an early red wing but all was quiet except for a flock of robins, chickadees, singing titmice and cardinals, and a few blue jays. Also a redbreasted nuthatch feeding at the suet feeder at the sole house on the Middle Road. I usually get my first marsh red wing during the first week of March. I'll be passing thru on my way home from work each day next week eagerly anticipating my harbinger of spring. I've goldfinches, juncos, and downies at my home feeder, but overall winter feeder activity has been pretty dismal. mcm rutland
