Dear Colleagues, I apologize for not summarizing for you. Here is a summary of the inputs Some suggested that I look at AMA and Chicago style manuals. Others suggested publishing houses. Other suggestions include examples like the following: Nursing uses the APA manual (Publication manual for the American Psychological Association; 5th ed.). There are other styles: Chicago/Turabian and MLA (Modern Language Association) that seems to be more for literary kinds of things. Each publication usually has guidelines for writers, too. You might consider the journals in which he plans to publish to see if they have them. More importantly, one colleague suggested to look amia.org (American Medical Informatic Association) and look at their publication Journal of the Medical Informatic Association (JAMIA) and follow the instructions for authors. Another suggestion was to look at Vancouver Style, which is used by JAMIA. All the inputs were greatly appreciated. Thanks again. Marie I.
