Subject: Re: St. Paul Pigeon Control Program
I forgot all about the electric line/fence as a bird control method. I
actually installed one at my house to keep the neighborhood dogs from
squeezing through the wrought iron fence and knocking over the trash
cans. During the first week I heard only a few whelps. I don't hear
anymore distant cries during the night, but neither is the trash spread
all over the yard. The electrified fence is a very effective deterrent.
It has more power than a 9-volt to the tongue. It is also a good idea
not to brush up against the wire while washing your car with bare feet,
especially if you don't want to explain certain new vocabulary words to
your kids afterwards.

Subject: [SAFETY] St. Paul Pigeon Control Program
St. Paul is apparently beefing up it's pigeon control program. I heard
on the radio this morning that the control program will include
low-voltage
shocks, replacing pigeon eggs with fake eggs, and contraceptives.
I suppose we will see a number of clean-up efforts over the coming
months as the Twin Cities is hosting the 2008 Republican National
Convention.
