We have alot of different tools in our software archive. One that I might think is a good addition is some kind of disk wiping tool. Many students replace computers, for whatever reason, but I doubt that many give much thought to wiping the disks to fully remove their personal information. Some kind of simple tool that would do that -- writing over the hard drive to some accepted standard -- might be a useful addition to the archive. It would have to be promoted properly -- "Use this ONLY if you are giving away, throwing away, or otherwise disposing of your computer. Once you use this whatever was on your computer is GONE GONE GONE!!!" In an era of identity theft, ect. this might save students alot of trouble and, frankly, potential embarrassment by preventing their emails, personal photos, etc from ending up in the public domain somewhere.
