Fire Protection Engineer - Portland, ME Key Responsibilities § Assistant to Senior Fire Protection Engineer. § Collecting field data pertaining to sprinkler systems and special hazards suppression systems (water spray, foam, Halon, CO2, dry chemical) at military facilities in the US. May be 50% or greater travel. § Overseeing and reviewing technician's field work. § Evaluating occupancy and commodity classifications at military facilities to assess fire suppression system adequacy as it relates to the requirements of relevant NFPA standards. § Preparing fire suppression system adequacy reports. Basic/Required Qualifications § US citizenship required. § BS in Engineering. § NICET III or IV in Automatic Sprinkler System Layout and Special Hazards Suppression Systems; or PE license in fire protection engineering. § Ability to travel nationally for continuous weeks. § Willingness to travel 50% or greater of the time, if required. § Capable of producing accurate and timely deliverables to meet fast deadlines § Good verbal and written communication skills § Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy. Supplemental Qualifications (not required but a plus): § AutoCAD and AutoCAD 3D experience. § Sprinkler system installation and cost estimating experience. § Air Force or other military background. § NICET certifications in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems or Fire Alarm Systems. Physical Demands § Capable of performing field inspections, requiring walking, climbing, reaching and carrying of equipment for extended periods of time.
