Hi all
I wanted to let you know that I will be leaving the VT Dept
of Education on August 6th. I have accepted a position at East
Montpelier Elementary School as the Library Media Specialist/Educational Technology
Integration Specialist.
I appreciate all of you who have allowed me to live
vicariously through your work with students and am really excited to be going
to an opportunity where I will get to put into practice all that you have
taught me and all that we have learned together.
And now a few practical answers
Learning Network of VT: I am working on some on-demand
training material that will be available online before the start of the school
year. I will send out an announcement about CILC credit allocations next
week. The DOE is working on the best way to structure work around
educational technology and there has not been a position advertised yet.
In the meantime for help with the LNV, please contact Tim King at Northeast
Computer Systems [log in to unmask] or Peter
Drescher at DOE [log in to unmask]
Riverdeep Learning Village: work around RLV has
greatly grown over the past year, in part due the VT Item Bank Assessments for
Math and Reading at grades 2-8 and grade 10. As noted above, the DOE is
in the process of deciding the best way to support this work moving forward.
There will be an updated link on the RLV site with contact information before I
leave the DOE.
This is a hard job to leave. Working on educational
technology integration at the VT DOE has allowed me to work closely with VT
educators across the grade level and content area spectrums, as well as with DOE
staff who work to support learning opportunities for all our students. I
have been fortunate and can’t thank you enough for your willingness to
try new tools, share your ideas, and provide your feedback.
It has been a great 5 years for me at DOE and I look forward
to joining you in “the field.”
Best wishes,
Arlyn
