Hi There! This opportunity is in Worcester, Mass. Please feel free to sign up if there is interest in this free tool. All the best, Heather Chirtea >>>>>>>>>>>>>> New England Educators, You are cordially invited to attend the ASSISTments Showcase on the evening of October 3rd, 2011 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. ASSISTments has been developed over the past 8 years with grant funding from the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Education, and most recently Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Next Generation Learning Challenge (NGLC) funds. It is a teaching and learning resource that uniquely blends /assessments/ with /assistance/ in an online, but not real-time web-dependent environment. ASSISTments was highlighted in the National Education Technology Plan is currently being used by hundreds of teachers and thousands of students primarily throughout New England. This is NOT a commercial product, this is a FREE research-based resource that has been developed and tested (and continues to be tested) that takes advantage of the latest information on guided instruction and mastery learning. Speak with principals and teachers who have realized amazing results with ASSISTments. If you have internet access in your schools and most any type of computing devices - desktops, laptops, netbooks, iPod touches, iPads, tablets, or smart phones - you have the resources to implement ASSISTments. What you need is an understanding of what ASSISTments can do for your teachers and students and how to tap the existing resources and NGLC grant scholarships for professional development and implementation assistance. All of this and more will be available at the ASSISTments Showcase in October. Please be sure to RSVP online at http://tinycc/ASSISTmentsShowcase. At CMTC, Neil Heffernan, the lead developer of ASSISTments, is highlighted as a SpotLight Speaker on both Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as participating in the Share-A-Thon. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who you think would be interested in the ASSISTments Showcase, it is open to educators across New England.
