Hello all: I was hoping for some advice. When I first came here two years ago, our purchasing department decided we no longer needed to use a subscription service and thought it would be easier to deal with each vendor separately. It certainly was easier for them because whenever there was a problem I was the one who had to spend hours on the phone straightening things out with the vendors, not our purchasing department. Luckily, I no longer have to go through our purchasing department so I may be able to start with a subscription service again. However, I'd like to know if this is really time saving. If, for example, you don't get an issue of a journal, does this still involve massive phone time? And is service smooth? The librarian before me used Popular Subscription service and was apparently satisfied. If anybody has specific comments on them I'd appreciate hearing them. Off-list replies are fine, and I'll summarize for the list if there is any interest. Thank you. Melissa Hudak Centegra Health System
