It sounds like the plugin is checking the wrong permission; this happens now and then when a plugin author tests changes in a WordPress instance that isn't multisite like ours. I'm at a conference but will check that when I can.

Anybody know how to set up google analytics for a UVM blog?

I need to track traffic and user behavior to my blog, but I do not seem to have access to the GA plug-ins.

When I click on the "google analytics" plug in that is available as an option on the Wordpress (via UVM) blog I get a message that says that I "don't have sufficient permissions to access the page." [...]

UVM Blogs (blog.uvm.edu) has been upgraded to the latest version of WordPress. Some highlights:

The media manager has been overhauled and is much, much better and easier to use. Want to add a bunch of images to a post? Just drag them all at once from your hard drive into the media manager and tell it to include them. Want to include multiple photo galleries in a post? Just choose which images you want, and sort them however you want by dragging and dropping.
You can now embed content from SoundCloud, SlideShare, and Instagram, just like you already could with [...]

Chris, I forgot that the Subscribe2 plugin is available "on request" rather
than generally available because the configuration is somewhat complex. I've
enabled it for the blog.uvm.edu/cwcallah blog. If that isn't the blog you
wanted it for, contact me off list.

Our blogging service at blog.uvm.edu is a "multi-site" install of WordPress.
Users don't have the ability to install their own themes and plugins because
it potentially affects blogs on the server. However, we're happy to consider
adding new plugins and themes. You can send a note to me and we'll take a

New to the blogging scene here at UVM. I am interested in installing a
new plug in and I am used to automatic installation of new WP Plug-ins.
Does our server not permit this? I seem only have a limited number of
plug-ins installed and most I don't use.

I tried to find where my blog's back end directories are located (ie:
zoo.uvm.edu server) but again no luck. [...]

Hi, Chris,

The Subscribe2 plugin provides this functionality and has lots of
configurable options, for instance, mail frequency (hourly/daily/weekly) and
editable message templates.

More details at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe2/

Subscribe2 is already installed and available on blog.uvm.edu; you just need
to activate it.

Thanks for the help. The issue appears to be that TED talks are not on the
whitelist that allows this. YouTube is, but TED is not.

If you trying to embed a YouTube video into a blog.uvm.edu or other WordPress site, you can do it just by copying and pasting the URL of the video's page out of your browser window directly onto an empty line in your post, and WordPress will automatically embed it when you publish your post. You don't need to use YouTube's "embed" option. [...]

You don't need to do that work; WordPress will do it for you. All you need
to do is put the URL to the YouTube video on its own line, without making it
a hyperlink. See http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds for more detail.
