Paid Summer Internship with the Sadie Nash Leadership Project!

For the full job description: http://www.sadienash.org/employment.htm

Deans are young women currently enrolled in college who have an
interest in women and girls' leadership. Deans will have interest and/or
expertise in areas appropriate to the program's mission. Deans will work
closely with the young women in the Sadie Nash Leadership Project (SNLP) and
must actively support our mission.

Deans will have a chance to teach, lead, and plan different aspects of
the program. This will be excellent experience for women interested in
social justice, adolescent development, education, feminist youth
organizations, non-profit development, and leadership among other things. This
position offers a unique and exciting learning experience, which will be fun,
dynamic, and challenging.

We want the Sadie Nash Leadership Project to be a chance for you to
excel, to push yourself, and to be supported.

Details of the Position:

Deans are college-aged women who work for 9 weeks from approximately
Monday, June 16-Saturday, August 16, 2003. SNLP takes place in New York
City, New York.

We ask that you are available from 9:30am-4pm during the week. (ONLY
one Saturday, August 16th would also be requested if religious obligations
do not prevent you from working on Saturdays.)

Deans will have a chance to teach, lead, and plan different aspects of
the program.

Each Dean depending on her interests and the needs of the organization
will be responsible for an aspect of the development of the program.

Deans will be individual advisors to a group of 5-6 students.

Each Dean will receive $2,000 for the ten weeks of the internship.
While we hope to also provide housing for all of the Deans, we cannot
guarantee it until later in the process.

We will ask that Deans participate, on some level, with students after
the summer program.

We are looking for Deans who:
· are interested in both the social activist component as well as the
female youth development aspect of the program
· are creative, tenacious, independent, good humored, flexible and
adventurous
· are comfortable with and excited about our mission & goals
· are traditional or non-traditional leaders in their communities

Application Process:

To Apply:
We ask that you only send a resume and cover letter (which explains why
you are interested in this program and position) and two names & contact
information for preferably one academic and one professional reference
as, soon as possible but no later than FEBRUARY 15th, 2003. We want to make
sure that you are a good match for the SNLP, and that we are a strong
match for you. We will contact you if an interview is requested.

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
Women of Color strongly encouraged to apply.
