Attention General Body Members!
I hope you all had a great long weekend and enjoyed the surprise snow dumping!
Spring is in sight! :)
I need your help! We have 2 co-sponsorships that need approval REALLY soon. Due
to us not meeting this past Monday, the 21st, I coulnd't get word on any votes.
I would like to ask you guys to email me
your votes if you have taken one already, and if not, to vote on behalf of your
communities. These really need to get moved along and with the attendance
issues, they are lingering too long. So, I
have provided you with the information you should need to jog your memories of
which ones I am talking about!
1. International Women's Day!
- March 8th
- $500 requested
- Event budget: $4000 (gotten funds from Center for Cultural Pluralism, ALANA,
Afirmative Action, Intl Education, various departments)
- Schedule of events handed out
- Guest speaker: Dr Bolanle Adetoun
- International breakfast that morning
- Tried to put together that everyone on campus could participate and be
interested in
2. Springfest
-4th Annual Springfest, an outdoor event with music, food, fun, and more
-Volunteers from IRA welcome
-this year, two main stage bands: bids out to Robert Randolph and Spearhead
-total cost upwards near $91,000
-asking IRA for $6,000 but “any amount would be good”
-have received money from other areas (student life, SGA, SA Concerts, Summer U,
Provosts office, IRA?)
-$10,000 short as of now
-Date: April 30th-same day as ground breaks for the new “Davis Center” (student
commons)
-location: CBW Green
-time: ALL DAY!
-music, food, student clubs, local vendors, velcroix walls, moon walks, tye
dying, jousting
-as of now, FREE FOR UVM STUDENTS! May go up to $10 for students/$20 for non
students, depending on how the budget ends up.
-Rainsite: Patrick Gym
Also, reminder our next meeting is next Monday February 28th in L/L Fireplace
Lounge. We have a fun night planned. We have two guest speakers and then a CAB
and IRA fun pizza party! Bring your cabs!
