COLLEGIATE MEN'S ICE HOCKEY
WAYNE STATE at VERMONT
NOVEMBER 3, 2002
FINAL SCORE: VERMONT 3, QUEBEC-THREE RIVERS 1
BURLINGTON, Vermont - Vermont's Dustin Corbett scored on a beautiful wrist
shot to the upper corner with less than five minutes to go as the
Catamounts defeated Quebec-Three Rivers, 3-1, in an exhibition game Sunday
at UVM's Gutterson Fieldhouse.
Corbett's game-winning goal, with an assist to junior Tom Child, broke a
1-1 tie and gives Vermont an unofficial three-game winning streak heading
into their ECAC openers at Brown and Harvard next weekend.
After a scoreless first period that saw only three penalties called,
Vermont took a 1-0 lead early in the second half when freshman Baron Becker
tipped a shot from Gerard Miller past Three Rivers goalie Eric Dejardins.
Sophomore Brady Leisenring also assisted on the goal, which came on the
power play at 3:34.
Three Rivers evened it up later in the period when Jerome Bergeron ripped a
wrist shot past Vermont goalie Matt Hanson at 12:40 of the second. Philippe
Deblois and Marc-Etienne Hubert assisted on the goal.
Freshman Jeff Corey scored with 1:25 left to give the Cats the final 3-1
margin.

Piche combined for 31 stops for the Patriots.
