I have worked at a human hospital that does medical research, and
random-source dogs are very, very commonly used for medical research. These
dogs are not specially bred for research, but are bought from dealers. I have
no doubt, after seeing these dogs, that many of them are stolen pets. I
commend the Atlantic Monthly for telling people what so many of them do not
want to hear.
Never leave your dogs unattended in the yard if you don't want them to end up
in a laboratory.
