<< Perhaps the "medium-eyed heading dog"
is a variation on the stronger eyed Heading Dog >>
Hi,
I would suspect this is the case (there is also a range of "eye" in Border
Collies). Another type of dog that has been mentioned in articles about New
Zealand is the "handy dog" which was considered an all-rounder, essentially
of the Heading Dog type but also able to do Huntaway work to a certain
extent. Again I don't think these were separate "breeds" in the sense of
being registered with particular names, they were more on the order of
strains in which certain characteristics could be found more often.
