What a cutie! After just recently going through the "adoption process"
I realize how difficult it can be -especially for farms. Additionally, last
year when I was "placing Max," the border collie pup I screened several
people and checked three homes prior to placing him. It is heart-wrenching
and quite the dilemma for those placing pets. Since our teeny-tiny yard is
fenced in
completely- with a 6 ft fence- I had no problem passing the home inspection
and
since Friday is well trained to my commands, I had a personal "ok". I was a
bit stunned to
find a request on the applications to give them our "yearly income" I must
admit. Furthermore, more upset when the first collie rescue of NJ never
called me- and couldn't find the time for me to meet a collie between
November and December (after they too asked for this $ figure- you'd think
with such personal information they'd be a little more interested in placing
pooches!)
It seems the "trick" is to establish yourself with the "right" rescue group
and either
get a little involved or to explain how committed you are to the well-being
of dogs. Lynn
