>Blue was diagnosed with lymphoma on Christmas Eve

Hi Jan--my dog Dickens (9 yrs old or so) was diagnosed with Stage IV
lymphoma last Aug (early Aug.). He was quite sick at the time--it had even
spread to his spleen and the lymph nodes we could feel were really HUGE. We
opted to be aggressive and go for chemo, and let me tell you, it has been
well worth it. Dickens went into remission almost right away with the
chemo. However, be warned, at about week 6 or so of chemo, the chemicals
changed and he did in fact get quite sick a couple of times (to the tune of
emergency room stays and such). However, the vet here (central IL) got it
worked out, and Dickens is doing really great. I'm so glad we stuck it out.
He is energetic--NOW I realize just how long he was sick, we had "written"
his lower energy off to getting older. Right now I can well imagine him
herding sheep again! He is in the "maintenance" phase of the treatment,
which means instead of weekly chemo he only goes every 3-4 weeks.

Anyway, if you want to know more about treatment and what to expect, feel
free to email me

Kate
