Celt is now about 10 months. The other day I came home and went into the
house and did not see either Celt or Frog. When I looked out the window they
were playing on the other side of the house. I was disturbed that they did
not notice that someone had driven up the drive and entered the house. I
realized that although Celt does a lot of looking around neither dog alerts
us to cars arriving. When they do I give them a lot of encouragement. Celt
has also not gotten the habit of making rounds to check the property. If he
sees and chases a deer or such from a certain area he will then go to that
area each time he goes out but doesn't necessarily take it on his own to do
it nor check other areas.
Is this an age thing that will develop later? Is there a way that we can
encourage more of this alertness.
