I haven't yet found a true bi-black rough collie.  Or even one that appears
so because the tan does not come through.  But I have to believe that they
are out there somewhere, and someday, I'll find one!

   Are you sure he was a purebred collie?
   Another possibility would be a collie that was genetically a tri color
but was phenetically a black and white.
      This could happen if the brown did not show.
       I have a Persian that is genetically a bluecream but appears blue and
I know another person has a Persian that looks and was shown as a black cat,
yet genetically she was a tortie, and when bred, passed  onto some of her
offspring the red that wasn't visible.
