Josh is amazing ferreting out hawks. Even if they are just riding the
thermals way overhead he spots them and alerts.
Recently I was at one end of the house and looking out the window saw
some guinea fowl making a beeline for under a spruce tree.
Hard on their heels a large hawk hit the tree about six feet up. I
raced the length of the house, Josh racing along. I opened the door and
that fast he was out, across the deck, off in one leap making a sharp left
to the spruce which he hit at full speed while leaping and trying to climb.
He just missed grabbing the bird who scurried upwards and took off
until he was only a dot in the distance.
How once I opened the door and he raced out, I'll never know how Josh
knew exactly what was going on and where.
And if he is outside eating or gnawing on a bone the poultry come right
up and share it.
