Lenes Named Hockey East Rookie of The Week

BURLINGTON, Vt. – For the second time this season Vermont freshman
Peter Lenes (Shelburne, Vt.) was named the Hockey East Rookie of the
Week, the league announced today. In Saturday’s 3-2 win over UMass,
Lenes scored the tying goal with 12 seconds left in regulation and then
scored the game-winner at 1:08 of overtime.
On the season Lenes has 10 goals and seven assists for a total of 17
points. His 10 goals are tied for the most by a freshman in Hockey East
this season. His 17 points rank fifth on the team.
Lenes was also named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Oct. 24 after
registering a hat trick and a total of four goals in a weekend sweep
against Minnesota-Duluth.
Vermont enters the week at 18-10-4 overall and 10-9-4 in Hockey East.
The 13th ranked Catamounts return to action this weekend for a pair of
Hockey East games against No. 5 Boston University. The games on Friday,
Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 both begin at 7:05pm. On Friday the first
2,500 fans receive a rally towel courtesy of Vermont Summer U. On
Saturday the first 2,000 fans receive a photo of the Vermont senior
class, courtesy of Leahy Press. The first 3,000 fans also receive
thundersticks, courtesy of Adelphia and after the game the seniors will
be recognized.
Both games can be seen on Adelphia Channel 74, with the exception of
Newport where the games can be seen on Adelphia Channel 70. Both games
can also be heard on WVMT-AM 620 and over the Internet by going to

UPCOMING EVENTS: BUS WITH US … The Vermont athletic department is
sponsoring a bus trip to the Catamounts men’s hockey games at
UMass-Lowell on March 3rd and 4th. The cost is $150 (single), $210
(double), $275 (triple) and $335 (quad) and includes the cost of the
hotel, game tickets for both nights and lunch from Handy's Lunch on the
ride down. The bus will leave from the Sheraton in Burlington at 2:00pm
on March 3. Victory Club members will receive 10% off the price of the

Vermont men’s basketball team hosts Boston University Thursday (Feb.
23) at 7:30pm and Binghamton Sunday (Feb. 26) at 1:00pm to wrap up the
