This may be the same Victorian print we saw in an antique store near here;
it was a lot larger than a book page, so perhaps it's the original that the
book version was taken from. It had a caption that said something like
"Can't you talk?"

Could be, Pam. There's no printing on it. DD is at a piano lesson but
I'm hoping to twist her arm to photograph and scan this so you guys can see
it. The thing that surprises me is that the frame is really old - part of
the matting is material that is decomposing - and shows no sign of having
been tampered with for many, many years. So I'm guessing the print is
really old. Why would someone rip a page out of a book and frame it so
fancy unless it had great emotional meaning for them? They mystery deepens.
DH promises to do some digging with the people at the thrift shop, who know
who originally brought the print in. Stay tuned. :)
