Heather says Stolzfus is an Amish name and is a name associated with the
very worst puppy mills.
I am not familiar with that particular puppy mill, but there have been
several articles that I have read recently about Amish "puppy mills". For years the
Amish in the Pa. area were known as amazing horse breeders and trainers. I
had the privilege of owning Amish trained horses over the years. It seems that
a few of these groups have discovered that you can make amazing amounts of
money breeding and selling puppies.
A friend at work was foolish enough to buy a puppy from one of these breeders
and while he was there they also bought a one of the breeding females that
the breeder was done with and was going to euthanize. He and his family have
spend countless hours at the vet and thousands of dollars on these two dogs just
trying to keep them healthy enough for a quality life.
Hopefully getting the word out about this and other puppy mills will make it
difficult for these individuals to get their hands on the breed.
Unfortunately until the public STOPS buying puppies from pet shops and puppy
mills these individuals will continue to thrive and make money from this and
other wonderful breeds.
