I have not tried this on Ticks, but I can assure you that Buhach or a similar brand of just plain Powdered Pyrethrum Flowers will kill fleas, lice and etc. very quickly on animals and plants without side effects. Use it on your garden and flower plants for insects. It's approved for that application. We use to burn a small mound of it (it creates a smoke that irritates the breathing vents on insects and they suffocate) to kill insects inside a building and it is safer to breath than the mosquito coils, and also for fleas and lice when skinning fur bearers that were trapped, just sprinkle it around the head and they instantly crawled out and died, again from suffocation. On pets and livestock just sprinkle on, down the spine area and top of the head and around ears for lice and fleas because they collect there. Sprinkle on and rub it in a bit. Quickest and safest way I know of. Sprinkle it in your laying hen  nests and on the chickens also if you have a problem of lice there. I wouldn't be without it. Ants don't like it either. Ants don't seem to like wood ashes sprinkled across their trail either.
      On a similar note if you find mange or similar on any of your animals mix up powdered sulfur and plain garden lime 50/50 and rub it into affected area, with a little water to form a paste. Try to scrape most of the scale loose so the treatment can heal the area. It works very fast. Both of these items are safe to use on milking animals or animals to butcher also. I don't like the manufactured chemicals which are not good for the general health of the animals or the owners. The Blood Stopper Powder I have found also uses this as an ingredient and I have used this a couple times. I think mice and voles carry the mange mite and the lice and fleas. Sulfur and Lime use to be the old standby for all Mange Mite etc. problems. 
      A tablespoon or two of Brewers Yeast added to feed is very helpful for any hair/coat problems on dogs or cats also and I'm sure on other animals too.

Far better than the poisons offered by the pharmaceutical industry. this product and found one particular website that really had nothing 
good to say about it. Their dogs and the people themselves had really 
bad reactions to this product. I know I won't be using it on any of my
