I don't have chickens, but here in the suburbs, I do from time to time rehab
baby
orphan wildlife. I do the same thing you've plotted out here. And be it a
squirrel,
possum or cottontail, my dogs become trustworthy with their extended family.
I think you're right; it's all about management, supervision, and those
initial "set-ups"
for success.
