I just sent a youtube link to the list, and meant to include an explanation, but my "send" finger got trigger happy! My daughter included a little bit with the link, but I wanted to give you more back story.
Jabari is an April 2011 pup from Gracehaven. He has had no training per se, but he does help out around here with our goats. He has a lot of natural herding instinct. Sonata is a Sheltie that I got for Kalee 7 years ago to do agility with. She did not come from a farm home, or people who were breeding for herding. Fortunately she did not get the memo. {:^) You will see from the video she is quite the cheerleader (that is code for bark, bark, bark, and bark some more). She is a very gritty little dog, but really looks to her human for guidance. She too has helped out with the goats some.
Kalee has been putting the neighbor's sheep away at night for the past three nights. Today she had to go over about 3 hours earlier than usual so the sheep were at the far end of the pasture. There is also a cow which doesn't like dogs and worried Kalee the past two nights. But this afternoon Sonata decided to take care of business! Jabari is nervous being on a different property, but you can tell in the video that he goes behind the sheep and starts moving them. Kalee did not get much of him on film because she was worrying about the cow that Sonata was focused on.
Hope you enjoy the video clip!
