I agree that this can be the case, but my dog is black and I can only go
by what she tells me. She tells me that she won't do anything but lay in
the shade and pant until I shave her down. (This dog also panted in the
back of the truck as we drove through a Kentucky snowstorm. The other
dogs were huddled up and she was trying to catch air.)

My brother had to have his sheltie shaved due to skin problems and then
for back problems (testing). It took Boo almost two years to grow his
coat out fully, but I'm not sure how much of that could be attributed to
his skin condition. He is again loosing hair in patches and it seems that
each patch from the last time grew back in a different shade...He's still
