An acquaintance of mine calls the "modern" Siamese, "fruit bats."

As I mentioned, there is a now a group of people breeding the "classic" or
so-called "apple-headed" Siamese, as a separate breed.  "Apple-headed"
doesn't sound too appealing, but that's what its been called!  "Classic" is
much better.  I''ve seen ads for them in magazines like Cat Fancy.  I've also
had old-fashioned looking Siamese that were a result of crosses with
"regular" cats and Siamese, they would get the Siamese coloring but have the
"normal" cat head and body -- very nice cats.
I like the old-fashioned Persians too -- the modern ones have pushed in
faces, their eyes water constantly, they have breathing difficulties -- it is
really sad.  Just the same as with so many breeds of dogs -- a type bred for
that directly causes health problems.
