Like you I'm pretty skeptical about "lite" and "senior" but my one Vet
thinks they are good ideas. I have one dog who lives to eat - with lite she
can get a little more, feel a little more full. And a quality Senior food
has stuff added to it older dogs need. I was going to keep feeding Brandy
Quinn's Eukanuba but Dr. A says go with Senior. I'm a little afraid of Dr.
A (he's a grumpy old man, but boy does he love animals) so i'm not about to
not take his advice. He's the same vet who frequently goves me free care
for my rescue animals at the same time he gives me grief about having a big
"S" (for sucker) tatooed on my forehead.
So Brandy is going to get Senior food supplemented with an
oil/vitamin supplement Dr. A has. We'll see how he does. He's already
looking better after daily brushings and he seems perkier.
I have to admit that i've never paid to much attention to what I
feed my dogs. They get quality food and I pay attention to whether that are
eating (or eating too much) but my dogs are healthy. And every rescue dog
I've had has been reasonably healthy (mostly I take in cats for short term
rehab). Having an older, too thin dog added to the household has certainly
gotten me thinking about food alot more. I've learned a lot too.
