Dean,
> Is the body weight used for puppies their existing weight?
I think so, that's how we've been using it, but now that you mention it,
I'd better ask Ellen.
Jan,
Cap weighed 60 lbs last time I had him to the vet (March)
He's on the small side for an American Collie, just squeeks in at the
minimum standard height, 24" (by my measurement method which might be
off).
"Dogs are from 24 to 26 inches at the shoulder and weigh
from 60 to 75 pounds. Bitches are from 22 to 24 inches
at the shoulder, weighing from 50 to 65 pounds. An
undersize or an oversize Collie is penalized
according to the extent to which the dog appears to
be undersize or oversize."
My impression is that in the U.S. and Canada the breed tends toward the
larger end of this range and 90lbs. is fairly common, but that is just
an unscientific guess based on the individuals I see and weights/heights
I've noticed mentioned on collie-l.
