My Aussies and my ES get Heartgard Plus which (according to the box) is
ivermectin and pyrantel and (again according to the box) prevents heartworm
disease and treats and controls ascarid and hookworm infections.
Interceptor is milbermycin oxime and is generally considered safer
for collies (and collie breeds) (i know there is much disagreement about
Heartgard's safty for collie breeds and my other dogs have never had a
problem and my Vets say "don't worry" and Heartgard is easier to get... but
I'll tell you. it still makes me nervous) Brandy arrived with a summer's
supply of Interceptor so I don't have to worry on his account.
According to the literature in the Interceptor packet Interceptor
prevents heartworm disease, controls adult hookworm, and removes and
controls adult roundworm and whipworm.
nothing about Tapeworm which Brandy will be treated for "just in case".
My Vet is also sending home some oil and vitamin supplement. I like
