Hi Everyone -
I just bought a book called "Bobbie a Great Collie of Oregon". It
is a true story about a collie dog who traveled 3000 miles to get back to
his owner in 1923 and 24. I bought it sight unseen because it had photos of
Bobbie and I love these old photos. So, wasn't I surprised to open my new
book and see...
yes, you guessed it, an English Shepherd or at least a Farm Collie...
In the back of the book is a little section about Bobbie and it
says he was born in February 1921 of a collie mither and a collie - ES
cross father. He was bought for $5 when he was 6 weeks old. His job was to
bring inthe cow every night. It says "he was stubborn, proud, and could not
be punished other than by light scoldings. But he learned swiftly, and
would obey any order he could understand."
(gee, that sounds like a classic ES to me)
It also says that there was eventually a "Mrs. Bobbie" and 15
puppies... wonder if any of our dogs have Bobbie genes...
