A while back there was a discussion of OFA & PennHip.
The current numbers for collies are:

>Collies, 67 radiographed, minDI 0.19, maxDI 0.90, mean DI 0.44

I questioned the 67 since PennHip says it is breed specific and a baseline
is needed to "determine" where your dog fits within the breed. I was
told once they get 20 dogs of a particular breed, they have enough for
breed specific statistics.
"Once they have 20 dogs from any breed they will calculate a minimum,
maximum and mean distraction index for that breed.  Mathematically of
course 200 is better than 20 as is 2000 better than 200 however they start
calculations with 20."

While interesting, I find that number very low to start quoting breed data.
I am happy that 67 have been radiographed so far. This still may be a tool
of the future and could certainly be used to compare several dogs to
evaluate one possible criteria in breeding.

FYI - "The total number they have radiographed so far is 18,703 dogs.
minDI at 0.07. max at 1.19, mean at 0.52."

*At this point*, collies are coming in better than dogdom in general. And I'm
sure, that's not because those most interested in hips are measuring and
using the data. :)
