Hi Jana,

I believe the AKC requires a "witnessed tie" for the
litter to be eligible for registration (though how
anyone could ever prove it one way or another I don't
know). You can search their website at
http://www.akc.org/ for more information. Also, I
have had good luck e-mailing questions to them and
getting a response in a reasonable amount of time.
