This was a surprise to me.  I have never had a barky collie, and I have had
four.  Is this a widespread trait in the breed?  Our collies have never
barked unless there was something that really NEEDED barking at (like
intruders at night or stray dogs in the barnyard in the daytime).  Our
collies now don't even bark at people coming up the driveway unless there
is a reason to think it is unusual.
