Dean,
<<One of my concerns has been the dosage of 1 clove/day/dog but I never
heard
any weight ratios for the dog. From what you know then it doesn't make any
difference?>>
There are actually some weight recommendations in some sources, but I think
probably the reason most people don't bother with them is because garlic
has proven to be beneficial at almost any dosage. A dog is not likely to
eat even enough of it in a regular feeding to qualify as a therapeutic
dose. The beneficial maintenance dosage can vary so much that it is hard
to make any definite recommendations, hence that standard "dosage" of a
clove a day per dog. This dose is perfectly safe no matter what size dog
it is. As with all things, though, try a small dose first. I would assume
it is possible for allergies to exist, although I have never heard of one.
