it is funny how certain colours come and go out of fashion. Does
anyone know when the last black and tan collie disappeared from the breed,

all? I would think it would occassionally in a liter of tris. Was B&T ever
 a sheltie colour? >>

hi,

Black and tan was indeed one of the original Sheltie colors, and there is a
photo of one in one of the English Sheltie books, from 1920 or 30 I believe
(I'll have to look it up to be sure, will do so later as I have to leave
shortly). I have seen a Sheltie nearly pure black, and another nearly black
and tan, although I suspect these were probably 'Irish-spotted' dogs with
very minimal white markings, rather than true black and tan. But for visual
purposes they were black (only a little white on the toes and chest) and
black and tan. Possibly some Collies exist with this coloration, although I
haven't seen any with as minimal white as these two Shelties had.

Linda
