When we moved to our first acreage we were given a female sheltie, about 4 yrs old that had been living in town, but the people couldn't take her to the new place they had. She had never seen sheep or so much open space and it took us a while to get her used to it. She came to Mo with us in '89 and turned into a pretty good farm dog, she had her own style of working sheep, mostly barking at them to get them to go back , and short little dashes to get them to go back in the right direction. But her real talent was mushroom hunting. When I learned about morels, and started hunting for them she used to come along, she caught on pretty quick to what I was looking for. But the next year, she discovered such a taste for the morels, that it was a lucky find if I got there first and could grab them before she got there and gobbled them up!
