In France, jumping is considered so important for the herding dogs that one of the standard requirements in the trial is that the dog be able to jump out of a pen over a 1-meter gate.  Mr. LeGoff, secty. of the French herding commission who has visited here a couple of times to judge trials, was surprised to see that we didn't have that in our trials!
