I was reading a news article on MSNBC about ways to save money in caring for our pets. They mentioned a Helping Pets Fund by AAHA (American Animal Hospital Assoc.) that will help owners (on a case by case situation) pay for major medical procedures when the owner's are financial unable to cover the expenses. Each request for help seems to be submitted by veterinary staff to AAHA and if approved, a grant is given for at least partial payment of the procedure. The animal must be treated at an AAHA accredited clinic. I thought this was a very interesting "find" and is not something I've heard of before as being available through AAHA. I do know of a similar program, however it is only available to Labrador Retrievers, especially those that are rescued or adopted from a rescue or shelter. http://www.aahahelpingpets.org/ ~Jill M.
