I hadn't heard anything against the wide blaze in historic collie stuff or from
farm people telling about their old collies.

The only farm-related opposition to blaze in the old collies that I'd ever
heard about was a dislike for the blaze that goes all the way over the top of
the head and meets up with the collar on the back. Erika du Bois mentioned
this, either in one of her articles or maybe when I was talking to her. She
said the farm tradition in her area was somewhat opposed to that marking, and
they liked the black on the roof of the mouth.
