SLD Announces New Discount Threshold
=================================================================

Eighty-two percent is the new E-rate discount threshold for funding Year 3
internal connections, the Schools and Libraries Division announced Sept. 22.
This is the first reduction in the discount threshold since July 28, when it
dropped to 83 percent. The rate could fall further--as low as 81 percent
before the end of Program Year 3.

The SLD committed more than $140.3 million in Wave 22, with funding
commitment decision letters sent out to 277 applicants. The average
commitment was $507,500. Of the $2.25 billion available in Program Year 3,
$1.7 billion has so far been committed.
