Although I think AOL would generally provide a fairly
high level content - they are the best at organizing
"communities", I would be interested in knowing how
they are going to segregate the "at school" accounts
- their email lists are fantastic datamines (though
probably not more than any other mail service ...)
In the good old days, it was sort of assumed that
schools would be providing email accounts locally -
through a mail server, a bbs server, or something.
but schools (and the school establishment) generally
didn't step up to the challenge.
A side effect was that industry did - Microsoft with
hotmail, AOL with internet messanging, and dozens
of chat rooms - all looking for eyeballs to sell
to advertisers.
