Hi All,
We are having a bit of a debate between labs about processing and drying
times of stable isotope samples. Both labs use Soxhlet machines for
lipid extraction. One side of the fence believes that each stage
(initial drying, extraction, and final drying) of processing doesn't
need to last more than 8 hours, while the other side believes each stage
needs a full 24 hours. I am wondering if there is a general consensus on
this issue and/or if there is any literature I could refer to for a
standard. Specifically, I am extracting lipids from samples of humpback
whale skin (~1 gram).
Thank you in advance!
