Dear Paul and others interested,
you are right, there is an overlap of the two conferences on 30 Aug - 3 Sep
2004, one in Monaco being organized by IAEA (at the location of the IAEA
Marine Environment Laboratory) and the one in Vienna organised by European
stable isotope user groups. The dates for the IAEA symposium on QA in
analytical methods were subsequently adjusted to allow scientists to
eventually attend at least two meetings in a sequence (if you don't consider
as a third one the Paris workshop beginning of September). So it looks, that
next summer some time should be reserved to attend interesting meetings...

Some meetings on stable isotopes in August/September 2004:

25 - 27 August 2004 : International Symposium on Quality Assurance for
Analytical Methods in Isotope Hydrology (IAEA, Vienna, Austria)
30 Aug - 3 Sep 2004: International Conference on Isotopes in Environmental
Studies (IAEA, Monaco)
30 Aug - 3 Sep 2004: Joint Isotope Users Group Meeting (JESIUM 2004,
externally organised meeting convened at IAEA, Vienna, Austria)
6 - 8 September 2004: International Workshop on the Application of Isotope
Techniques in Hydrological and Environmental Studies (Paris, France)
(not to mention the World Geological Congress in Florence, Italy 20-28
August 2004, and a workshop on infrared spectroscopy and stable isotopes,
beginning of September 2004 near Napels)

Regards,
Manfred Groening, IAEA

PS: Details on the two IAEA meetings will be announced later.

Subject: Two isotope meetings Aug 30-Sept 3 2004?

To anyone who might have more information:

Looking up next years isotope conferences, I was surprised to find that the:

Joint Isotope Users Group Meeting"
http://chemsrv0.pph.univie.ac.at/JESIUM/ and the:

International Conference on Isotopes in Environmental Studies (I couldn't
find a specific web site for this meeting, but it is listed in
http://www-pub.iaea.org/MTCD/Meetings/Meetings2004.asp )

are both listed as being on 30 Aug. to 3 Sept. 2004.

Is this correct? I assume many of us would like to attend both, but if
the dates are correct will have to decide on one or the other.

Thanks in advance,

Paul Brooks.
