Many thanks to the eleven listmembers who contributed their collective
suggestions and experiences with regard to use of a gas-tight syringe and
septum arrangement for the transfer of gas aliquots from a sample reservoir,
prior to isotope ratio measurements. The helpful hints give cause for
optimism that it should be possible to achieve better than the preliminary
tests here indicated. But it is also clear that, for ultimate accuracy and
precision, it may be necessary to consider alternative methods of sample gas
transfer.

I hope that others may also have benefited from the discussion.

Best wishes,
Martin
