Jian and others,
As a user of older mass specs. I just have my filaments remade by the
campus machine shop. I use .006" diameter Tungsten wire. The shop welds
them on for me.
If you start with a good filament most shops should be able to duplicate
it and reduce any potential alignment issues.

Subject: Filament wire for Delta plus XP
Hi all,
I'm in the process of ordering a new filament for our Delta plus XP
(part of
a GC-C-IRMS). I opened up an old filament just for the fun of it and
found
that it seemed easy to just replace the filament wire itself--no welding
needed. I also came across two bundles of thoriated tunsten wires, which
were hidden in a pile of spare parts for our old HP 5890 GC-MS. My
question
is, is this the right material for the Delta plus XP (they look alike),
and
if luckily so, does it worth a try (Thermo is now charging $376 for a
new one)?
Thanks in advance,
Jian
