I was afraid you would say that. In which case I can only suggest you place
the cross-piece in a muffle furnace and heat it up to 600 C. In the presence
of air even Valco's polyimide/graphite mix (Valcon) should incinerate at
this temperature.

Downside is the cross-piece may deform slightly and the threads for the
ferrule nuts may suffer for it.

You could try pointing a Bunsen burner flame in the hole where the
obstruction is and see if by tapping the cross-piece on a hard surface the
material can be dislodged.

Downside other than getting burned, see above.
