Hello all,
We have a Thermo-Finnigan 251 RMS connected up to a Kiel II device
and we having problems running CO2 samples. The instrument will react a
sample in the A-line just fine, but when it tries to let the sample into
the 251 for analysis ('W' mode), nothing happens. The Kiel device appears
to be waiting for the RMS to realize there is a sample waiting to be
analyzed. So there is a communication problem of some sort with the two
instruments. To make matters worse, the Kiel seems oblivious to the fact
that a sample is waiting to be analyzed and subsequently reacts the samples
on the B-line, which then gets 'stuck' behind the A-line sample.
We have tried reinstalling the software (version 7.5) on a different
computer (Pentium II), and see the same results. I was told by the Finnigan
people to use prspeed to 'dummy' the computer down so that it can talk to
the Kiel, but that doesn't seem to make a difference either.
Anyone have any ideas?
Bernie Genna
