Dear List members,
The following I post for Wim Mook, former director of the
Centre for Istope Research, Groningen (NL), as we both
think that this book is of interest to many members of our
community:
Book Announcement
The former Director of the Centre for Isotope Research
(CIO, Groningen University) Willem Mook, has written a
textbook on the behaviour and the background of
applications of natural isotopes in hydro(geo)logical
research, focussing on the most common stable and
radioactive isotopes of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen. It is
essentially a shorter version of the extended series of
Environmental Isotopes in the Hydrological Cycle published
by UNESCO/IAEA in 2000/2001. The book deals with stable
isotopic behaviour and the fundamentals of radioactivity,
discussing (quantitatively, if possible) all relevant
natural processes determining the isotopic abundances, and
summarises the handling of water samples and measuring
techniques. It goes with a separate CD with all figures in
PP format, in color and blown up to presentation size. The
data are the following:
Introduction to Isotope Hydrology (ISBN: 0415381975)
by Willem G. Mook
The book contains 256 pages, is hard-bound and costs
£44.00 or $79.00.
Published by Taylor & Francis as Vol. 25 in the IAH
